Waking up Vanessa could just feel it, today was going to be a boring day at camp. Rolling out of bed, she walked over to the window and opened it up. To her delite it was raining outisde. Excitment flew threw her bones.
Walking over to her dresser she pulled out a white tank top, with a black and white striped sweater. Bending down she opened the bottom drawer, pulling out a pair of skinny jeans she put them on. Getting out a pair of fresh, pink and black striped socks, sliding them over her feet she stood up.
Looking at her hair, she brushed it, curled it and then played with it for a moment, getting it just the way she liked it. Doing her make up rather quickly she thought she looked pretty good. Walking back to her bed, she grabbed her jacket and her bright red rubber boots.
Hiting the town she began to wonder the dead city, she didn't really see anyone out. But then again who was going to wonder around on a rainy day, everyone would be bowling or some such thing.
Seeing a park, Vanessa wondered on in there. Looking around, hearing all the rain drops splash as they hit the ground, it made her smile. She couldn't explain why but she just loved the rain.
Seeing a playground, she saw a swing set. Getting that excited feeling again, she walked over there, A smile that went from ear to ear. Looking at the swing set, she saw a few rain drops on it, taking the sleve of her coat she quickly wiped them off and sat down.

Van woke up to the sound of heavy water splattering on the window next to his bed. Sitting up quickly, he saw this, and smirked. He loved the rain. Always did. Not only did it remind him of Chicago, but it also relaxed him. The consistent and equally spaced drops of water that hit the roof was a soothing relief from the normal, random cycles the usual wind that would blow the occasional pebble at the rock. No, rain had a definite pattern to it’s splattering. You might have to look for it, as you would with all audible patterns, but it was definitely present.
Rolling out of his bed, Van stretched, rather tired, and walked towards his suitcase. Unlike most, Van never got around to unpacking. He opened up the bag, and looked at what he had to wear. Deciding on a long-sleeve black shirt, and a pair of jeans, Van then found himself stuck between whether to wear a hoodie, or a vest. If he wore the hoodie, he knew that he wouldn’t feel any of the rain…which would probably save him from a cold later on…but on the other hand, he loved walking around in the rain, and it was not a common event in the summer. So, opting with the vest, Van exited his room.
Trying to decide where to go, Van made the impulse decision to leave the camp itself. After all, on a good day, there wasn’t a whole lot to do. On a rainy day like this, Van would definitely go crazy trying to find something to do. So, after getting to the town, Van was surprised at how dead it seemed. Even on a rainy day like this, he expected to see a couple people out. Of course, this was no problem for Van. It just meant that he wouldn’t have to swerve out of the way when the mindless drones came out on the sidewalk.
Van had considered bringing his guitar, thinking it might clear up, but he was glad that he had decided not to. If anything, the rain had just intensified since he left. Walking towards the park, Van figured he’d be tempting fate, being around so many trees during a potential thunderstorm.
As he was walking, he saw a girl around his age walking towards a set of swings. Quickly recognizing the cotton-candy colored hair as his friend Vanessa’s, Van walked up to her, smiling. She was at the camp, for Dance. He was always impressed at how she found a combination between hip-hop and ballet, and knew that she had a very big future in front of her. Reaching the swing next to her, he jumped on, standing on the swing rather than sitting down. He pretended not to recognize, or even notice Vanessa’s presence, as he started to pump his leg, swinging a bit.

As Vanessa sat on the swings, she slowly began to pump her legs, but only a little. She didn't feel like touching the sky right now, maybe she could just feel that fact it could turn into a thunderstorm at anytime. If that was to happen, knowing her luck she wouldn't be able to get off the swing fast enough.
"It's not gunna thunderstorm" She mumbled under her breath as she began to pump her legs a little higher. Getting a song in her head she began humming her tune. Having fun she closed her eyes for a moment, thinking no one else was going to show up anyways.
Hearing the swing beside her start moving, Vanessa quickly opened her eyes to see Van on the swing beside her. Since her heart was racing from being scared she decided she sould slow down. Slowing down she looked over at him, with a small smile on her face, "You know, you totally scared me for a moment."
Vanessa had always gotten along with Van, ever since they went to camp together. For some reason they just clicked and she couldn't really tell why, whether or not she wanted to find out was another story..
"So, what brings you here to the park on this lovely rainy day?" Vanessa asked, as she began to pump her legs again, she was glad Van had made his way other here, this way she wouldn't be lonely in the rain. Looking at him, she smiled as she waited for a response.

Van smirked when Vanessa told him that she had scared him. Of course, his intentions had been innocent from the goal of inspiring fear. Van had just wanted to sneak up on his friend. “Sorry about that.” Van said, as the rain continued down. He felt his hair begin to weigh down over his eyes as he continued to pump his legs, and finally decided to simply sit on the swing. Letting his legs leave the swing for a moment, he slid down until he was sitting on the still-wet swing. He didn’t really care anymore though, since his pants had already gotten soaked on the way over to the park.
“Oh, you know.”” Van said, shrugging at her question. ”Beautifully rainy day, I figured I might as well hang around some good company.” He said. It was true, Vanessa was usually a pretty fun person to be around. She had her down-and-out moments, though they were rare. But besides those very-few pessimistic moods she experienced, Van could almost always count on her for a good time.
When Van first met Vanessa, they were just friends. They clicked pretty well together, and flirted around a bit at the camp. However, Van quickly started to realize that his feelings for her were dangerously leaving the ‘friend-zone’ and quickly approaching the ‘crushing-zone.’ Van never really acted on any of his feelings, and did his best to make it seem as though he still just liked her as a friend. “What about you?” He asked, noticing the comfy looking sweater she was wearing.

Vanessa gave him a look of relief when he told her he didn't mean to sneek up and scare her. She already knew that though. Considering how good of friends her and Van were, she figured with her having her eyes closed and seeing how it was a rainy day they both weren't really expecting the company that they had found just going for a walk in the park.
Vanessa slightly chuckled as Van told her what he did. She found his answer to be very.. well interesting. Slowing down on the swings a little bit she looked over at Van who seemed to be doing the same thing. "You know what" Vanessa paused for a moment before she continued on. "I had the exact same though" Vanessa joked around.
Looking around for a moment as the park layed dead, with just the rain to keep it alive. She looked over at Van whom just asked her what had brought her to the park on this rainy day. "Honestly. I just feel like leaving camp today" Vanessa smiled as she continued to move her legs for a second. Then seeing monkey bars, Vanessa put her feet in the sand at the park.
Walking over to the monkey bars she called back to Van, "Plus, I knew camp was going to be boring anyways." Putting her hands on the metal bars she could feel how slippery it already was. She didn't care though, she just wanted to have some fun, plus who would really see her anyways? Van? He knew she was like this.
As she began moving her hands, she went to move to the next one when her feet hit the sand. She was to tall, "This is rather upsetting" Vanessa looked at Van with her hands on the monkey bars while her feet were in the sand.
