Vanessa was tired of sitting around doing nothing, thinking about how different her life could have been if she hadn't of moved away and became the girl she is now. What if she had done everything her parents had told her to. What if she would have given up her hopes and dreams to please everyone. Even though she was pretty sure she wasn't pleasing them now.
Looking over she saw her ballet shoes sitting on her bed. All of a sudden she wanted to dance, to express how she felt about everything and to show why she was doing what she was doing. But she didn't watch everyone's eye per icing her with the hot intensity. Just waiting for her to make one simple mistake, that was the last thing she needed right now.
Grabbing her ballet slippers she began walking outside, smiling and waving at everyone whom she was passing. She saw the looks some of them gave her but she didn't care she didn't need them, plus the sun was setting and she knew soon they would be disappearing.
Finally reaching the dock, Vanessa began tying up her slippers. The strings came almost half way up her shin, she loved them. They were pink and girlie, which she was. Getting them all typed up she stood up and began doing a few stretches.
Vanessa began humming a tune and soon enough her feet her doing what they do best, dance.

Jac rolled lazily out of bed. She quickly checked the clock and noticed that it was already nearly noon. She had missed breakfast but that was okay, she would rather have sleep over food any day. She quickly throw of the blankets that still covered her, and walked over to the over side of the cabin where the vanity was.
She quickly looked at herself in the mirror. She had bags under her eyes from the lack of sleep as well as horribly tangled hair. She let out a sigh as she realized the work that lay ahead for her for this morning. It would be nearly an hour before she was decent enough to go out in public.
She quickly walked over her suitcase, and picked out a pink tutu, a white tank top with a skull on it, tights, and a pink tiara to top it all off. She loved her style it was unique and nobody else here wore the things that she did. She didn't care if they hated her clothes, she loved them and they caused her to stand out and what else do you need when you want to be a singer. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nearly half and hour later and she was finally decent. She briefly wondered what she would do. It was still an hour to lunch. She decided to go take a walk.
As she walked through the camp, she saw groups of people walking, talking and giggling about random things, she gave them all smiles not bothering to wave unless they did as well. She did feel like an outcast at times, but she honestly couldn't care what half this people thought of her she was here to improve her talent and hopefully one day make it big.
She noticed that her random wondering was leading down to the docks. One of her favorite places to go and think, something about the water's calming effect had drawn her to this place many times already, and she was sure that as long as she was at Camp Bell, she knew that it would always be her favorite place.
As she drew nearer she could see someone standing atop the dock and dancing. It wasn't hip hop or jazz or anything of the sort. It was ballet and Camp Bell only held few ballerina's and even fewer with bright pink hair. There was only one person it could be.
Vanessa Harlowe.
Vanessa Harlowe was Jac's best friend. She no idea what she would ever do with out her. She would probably lose what little sanity she had left, and have run always from Utah long ago. Nessie was the only thing Jac could always count on and she loved her for that.
Jac didn't want to interrupt her friend, she always looked so peaceful and calm when she dance, especially ballet. It was like something took over her and caused her to truly express herself with no fear of judgment and Jac couldn't interrupt that. So she quickly sat down and watched as she friend carefully but beautifully moved across the dock.

As she continued to dance she couldn't help but close her eyes. She was sure she wouldn't fall off the side of the dock. Plus she felt she could always concentrate more when she had her eyes close, because then she could truly forget about the world around her and just let her be at peace.
With her humming, she was sure she was going to attract someone eventually. She was just hoping it wouldn't be for a little while longer. As she continued moving back and fourth across the dock, she could almost hear the sounds of the little ripples of water while she tip toed back and fourth across the dock a few more times.
With her tune coming to an end, she felt the pulse inside of her pick up. Like she was going for a great finish in a final dance. Doing a spin around she landed it. Then taking her one leg she lifted it up in the air and titled her head back. She couldn't remember if it was a real ballet moved but she didn't care. She enjoyed through her own spins and twists into her dance.
Slowly coming out of the ending move, she had her feet so one was straight out and the other was looking straight out to the side. She loved how she was technically correct in her dance.
Opening her eyes, she saw someone sitting near the end of the dock. She jumped, freaking out a little. But to her own relief it was just Jac. "You know, you totally freaked me out" Vanessa told her with a laugh, as she walked over to where her friend was sitting. "So, what brings you out here anyways? Vanessa asked.

Jac smiled as she continued to watch Nessie dance, her smiled wided then she saw her friend mix ballet with moves from other genres or atleast she was sure that they weren't ballet moves. She had never seen a ballerina move the way that Vanessa moved. In fact she had never seen anyone moved the way Nessie had.
Ever.
She wished that she could dance like that, to be able to loss her herself in the moment and forget everything else. She could tell that when a dancer was in there element nothing in the world mattered and this seemed to go double for Vanessa. No one could touch her when she danced. Even those that hate her had to admit she had talent.
She couldn't help but feel upset when the dance came to an end. Nessie always danced with such passion and to see it was just amazing. She was lucky to know her as well as she did. She was so lost in though she didn't realize that the pink haired girl had left the dock and came to sit with her.
She jumped slightly as Vanessa began to speak. "And you totally freaked me out."She said with a laugh, hating that she was so easily distracted and scared. The only time she could only keep her mind on track was when she was singing, or writting songs. Even when she was modeling she could help but be distracted, but of course that was mostly Vanessa's fault anyway.
Jac had to think slightly about how to answer the next question. She wasn't sure exactly what had brought her down to the water front. She just need to have fresh air, to get away from all the other campers and to be able to finally feel freedom like she hadn't in a long time. Not since they arrived her from Utah.
"Just need to get some fresh air."She finally admitted not bothering to add anything about feeling trapped in the small camp filled with others that saw them as outcasts. Besides Vanessa had always been able to read her so well, she probably already knew what she was feeling. Besides what were words anyway.
"So...."She said unsure of who to continue, she wanted to praise Nessie on the wonderful job she had done on the impromtu dance, but was unsure of how her friend would take that. She finally decided the hell with that. "That was amazing."She told her friend with a smile.

Watching her friend jump as soon as she sat down beside her and began talking to her. With all of that, Vanessa couldn't help but let out a tiny giggle. She didn't mean to but she just always loved how her and Jac got along. They were inseprible, no doubt about it. "Well, I'm sorry about that Vanessa told her with a smile on her face.
Hearing her friend talk about the fresh air, and just needing to get away. She almost felt like Jac wasn't very happy. But she wouldn't confront Jac about it, unless she brought it up. She knew that was the way Jac worked, she figured it was because they were living together. And you learn some much about someone when you live with them.
"I know what you mean" Vanessa told her as she laid her head on Jac's shoulder. For a moment she looked out into the lake, the ripples in the water with the leaves hanging off the tree dipping deep down into the water, creating more ripples in the water. She loved it. If she could have had a camara, and she needed to take one picture, this would be it.
Hearing Jac compliment her dancing, she took her head off Jac's shoulders. Looking at her a smile grew on her face, "Thanks" Pausing for a moment, she looked at Jac, and Vanessa looked her straight in the eyes, "It reminds me of when you sing. I love when you sing, it's just so inspiring. Sure, Jac may accuse her of lying, but deep down they both knew it was true.

"Well you better be, you know how fragile I can be."She replied with a small smile. She was the smaller of the two but only by about an inch but she liked to tease her friend and saw that she was a petite and fragile girl. They both knew that she could definately stand up for herself against anyone else, and that she was far from fragile.
She could pratically feel her friend looking at her trying to decided if she was upset, she wanted to tell Nessie how she felt but she was unsure if she should she didn't want to ruin things, if Nessie hadn't yet noticed other some other the looked at them differently as if they were freaks. She was sure that she had noticed after all Nessie always seemed to be the more observant of the two, and surely if Jac had noticed than Nessie already knew.
Right?
"Some of the others,"She began unsure how to continue,"The preppies mostly, well they have been kind of..."She trailed off not wanting to finish the sentence it sounded so weird to be upset by something as silly as this now that she thought about it.
She felt her friend's head rest against her shoulder and carefully laid her head on top of her friends, looking out at the water. It was truley beatiful, the waves gently splashing against the dock. She quickly repositioned herself careful of not to move Vanessa to much and pulled her cell phone out of her pocket, and position it to take a picture of the water. It would not be anything as beautiful as the real thing but it would be a reminder of it.
She then turned the camera towards them. 'Smile."She told her with a smile, before sticking her tongue out and taking the picture. She quickly looked at the picture laughing before putting the phone back in her pocket.
She felt her friend remove her head, and locked eyes with her. She felt her heart swell as her friend praised her singing. She loved to sing, when she was singing she felt the same way that Nessie did when she danced and for someone to appreciate that made her feel good.
"Ya sure, me inspirational."

Laughing as Jac was telling Vanessa she was fragile. Like yeah, whatever. "That's so funny, because we both know thats a lie" Vanessa giggled as she turned to her side as started tickling her best friend, she loved when they just messed around the two of them, it made life more fun.
Stopping, Vanessa watched as Jac's facial expressions began to fade, into something sort of deppressed. Which Vanessa found weird because Jac was usually never like this. Espically when it was just her and Vanessa. Something was seriously wrong and it was starting to worry Vanessa.
But what was it?
'"Some of the others,"The preppies mostly, well they have been kind of..."'
Hearing that Vanessa looked at Jac, she could see how much it was starting to get to her. Taking her hands, she looked at her. "Jac, when they look at you, they don't see what I see" She paused for a moment, thinking of how she was going to continue. "They don't see a beautiful girl, who isn't afraid to be herself" She looked away for a moment, then back at Jac, "They just see you for what you wear, and for that, they are tools. Vanessa left it at that.
Hoping she helped out Jac, she looked back at the river to be told to smile. Sticking her tongue out she sat where she was. Jac took the picture and began to laugh, which made Vanessa laugh too. Glad they were getting into a better mood she couldn't help but smile. Thinking about everything that was going on here.
"You know you're talented, and don't even think about lying Vanessa told her with the tip of her finger getting pointed at her. She loved Jac's singing, she always had. Vanessa was hoping one day, Jac would sing a song for her to dance too. But she never actually asked her to do that.

"Nessie, would I ever lie to you?"She asked teasingly, she had never lied to Vanessa she was the only person she could ever be completely honest with and she was unbelievably thankful for her to be here at camp with her. She honestly didn't know what she would ever do with out her.
She knew that she worrying Vanessa, she could pratically feel her eyes buring into her. She didn't want Nessie to be worried about her. They both had so much going on now that they were at camp working on vocals, dancing, at times it seemed so overwhelming it was times like that she was espically thankful for Nessie.
She forced back the tears as Nessie told her how wonderful she was she didn't want to let this things get to her but they always seemed to. "You right, they just don't realize how truely awesome I am."She said with a small watery smile, but a smile none the this hopeing that this would help to lighten things up.
She quickly flipped out her phone and set the background as the picture that had been taken just minutes ago, replacing one from a couple years ago in which they had been goofing around in the apartment and Jac had pulled out her phone and taken a picture. That was back when Vanessa had had blonde and blue hair. Truely she liked the pink hair better.
"I may be talented but I am no where near as talented as you."She told her truefully, she had always wanted Vanessa to dance to one of her songs. It would make the song truely come to life in a way it never could have without her, but she was always to shy to ask Nessie after all who would want that.

"You better not ever lie to me! Vanessa told her, trying to seem big and manly. Jokingly of course, and she was sure Jac would take it that way. Vanessa just hated when people lied to her, expecially Jac. Maybe it was because Vanessa never really lied because she always thought, 'why lie? If someone doesn't like me they aren't going to like me if I do lie either'.
Seeing Jac almost break out in tears, Vanessa almost wanted to break out in tears to. But she couldn't, she wouldn't, they both needed someone to stand tall for them. And Vanessa was that girl. "I know, I told you that Vanessa began to laugh, they really didn't know how cool Jac or even herself were. All they saw was their clothes and their make up and they didn't like them for it.
Vanessa watched as Jac pulled out her phone and replaced the picture of them from years ago. Vanessa could remember that night like it was yesturday, they had been high strung on energy drinks and were taking pictures with everything. Looking at it, she noticed her hair was blonde and blue, instead of pink. "Ahh, look at my hair there! Vanessa laughed, she couldn't stop, it was so different to see herself with blonde and blue hair.
"I think I like the pink better." Vanessa admitted, for her. It just seemed to fit better, she liked the pink a lot. She was hoping Jac agreed, but even if she didn't oh well.. right?
"No, I think we are both very talented. Vanessa paused for a moment, "We just have different talents and different ways of showing them" Vanessa felt a bit of relief after saying that, she hated when they compared eachother to one another, because they both were really talented and they just need to see that themselves.

Jac couldn't help laugh when Vanessa tried to look at tough and manly it really didn't work on her a petite girl with bright pink hair and ballerina shoes trying to look tough let alone manly it was quite the sight. "I would never lie to you."She told her knowing how Vanessa felt on the topic of lying."Besides,"She continued more lightheartedly,"You absoultely terrify me." She finished with a small smile.
She could see that Vanessa was also fighting tears and she felt bad. She did want to make her friend cry espically after everything Nessie had already done for her. She felt a small amount of guilt pull at her, but she knew that Vanessa would want her to feel guilty for this, after all she was trying to make her feel better not worse. "I know, I just wanted to make sure you realized the full potenial of my awsomeness."She said with a small watery smile trying to help lighten the mood.
She laughed as Vanessa looked at the picture. She knew that Vanessa loved her pink hair the most out of all the hair styles that she had had. Ya the pink is better."She agreed looking between the picture and Vanessa. "But you looked hot, either way."She told her with a smile.
"Your right."She admitted they were both very talented. She just had alway wanted to be able to dance like Vanessa and that often caused her to overlook her own talent, but other times she was eternally thankful for the gift that she had been given. "Your always right."She said with a small laugh,"I must worship at your feet. My God."She said pretending to bow before her friend from there ackward position on the grass.
"Thanks, by the way."She said with a geniune smile."You always know just what to say."

Hearing that she 'terrified' Jac, made her smile. She couldn't help it, maybe it was because everyone know actually knew Vanessa could pretty much see she is like the biggest teddy bear ever. "That makes me feel good inside" Vanessa told her with the smile still huge on her face.
"Well, if they can't see it, then they never will." Vanessa added, trying to make it seem like a good thing although she didn't really think she was doing a very good job at that. "Besides, if they're being dumb. We'll just beat em up" Vanessa told Jac with a giggle.
They both knew they wouldn't have the guts to actually fight someone unless they really start lipping off to them. But even then, they both know they would warn them and tell them to back off. And if they don't listen to that, well then, maybe they just deserve to get beat up.
Hearing Jac compliment her hair, and saying she looks hot either way. Vanessa smiled. "Awe, thanks!" Vanessa told her happily. She was glad that Jac was so honest with her, even if it was something bad, Jac would tell her anyways. "I totally see why were best friends now Vanessa told her with a smile still on her face, for some reason, she couldn't get the smile off of her face.
Laughing as Jac pretended to worship her. "That's right, I am your god! Never ever forget that!" She told her with a wink. Vanessa knew if someone was to come to the dock, they would give them both dirty looks but they wouldn't care. They would give them right back.
Vanessa wanted to cry happy tears when Jac told her that she knew exactly what to say. It made her feel really important and like she had something to really offer to Jac. "Well, there is no one else I would rather help" Vanessa told her with a smile, as she grabbed her friend and pulled her into a tight hug.

Jac smiled glad that she could make Vanessa feel good, even if it was by teasing and goofing off. She hated the fact that it always seemed to be that she was the one that needed cheering up and Vanessa was always there to do that for her so if she could finally make her friend feel good she would do everything in her power to keep Vanessa happy.
"Oh my god, Nessie happy. I never thought the day would come."She said with a teasing smile. She remembered a time when they had both just left home, and she honestly thought that Vanessa would never be happy. She knew how hard it was for her to leave her parents to come live with her pyscho best friend, but in the long run they both knew it was better for both of them to live away from their parents.
Jac knew Vanessa was kidding when she said that they would beat them up. Nessie had never been violent and Jac guessed never would be if their was any chance something could be solved by words she knew that Vanessa would be the first one trying to solve it. In fact she could only remember Vanessa ever beating up one person in Grade 10, there was some kid that absolutely hated both of them, and would leave them alone. It had taken Jac crying at home about something the kid had told her, to make Vanessa beat up the kid,
"You mean you can fight?"She asked with a smirk on her face. She had often said that she was the tougher of the two when it came to fighting, but she knew that when you pissed Nessie off you better be ready for the worst.
Jac smiled at Vanessa happiness and the fact that Nessie seemed to have a smile permanetly attached to her face. She gave Vanessa a quick hug and hoped that she wouldn't mind. She had never minded physical affection between the two of them before so she doubted that she would mind a hug, even if others thought that they were too physical they didn't care. After all the both loved the comfort of hugs and other things friends did together.
"Well then would you mind sharing with me, because I am still trying to figure out why we are friends."She said with a laugh. In truth she knew why they were friends in elementry school they were the only too that actually like the same things and others thought they were weird for it but they didn't care. They had a habit of not caring what other thought of them.
Well most of the time anyway.
"I never will."She said with a smile taking another ackward bow towards Nessie. "After all I will to serve you."She answered with a smile. She sat back down after bowing.
Jac smiled as Nessie pulled her into a tight hug, for a few minutes. "Umm honey, I can't breath."She said with a laugh hoping that Vanessa would loosen the hug but not let go just yet. She liked being close to Nessie, espically when Nessie was happy.

Hearing her friend jokingly tell her that she thought she would never see the day where Nessie was happy, Vanessa looked over at Jac. She waited for a moment, to make it seem like she had something to say, then all she did was stick out her tongue. "You know, you really are a brat sometimes" Vanessa told her with a small laugh.
For some reason Vanessa felt like her and Jac hadn't talked in a really long time and they were finally catching up. It felt good to know that no matter where they were or who was around they weren't afraid to just hang out and let loose with all their jokes.
"Umm, I'm pretty sure we both know that I can do that" Vanessa told her as she looked at the ground for a moment, remembering back in grade ten where one kid was so rude her and Jac, to the point where Jac came to Vanessa crying. That was when Vanessa knew the kid needed to learn a lesson, and she taught it to her.
Looking back up at Jac, she tried to get into a better mood, espically once Jac asked for her to explain why they were such good friends because she 'didn't' know. Looking over at her with a smile on her, "We are both complete and total nerds, need I say more? Vanessa asked with a smile. She was sure Jac would get the rest but even if she didn't she was sure she would eventually get it. Jac was a little slow sometimes.
Hearing that Jac wanted to get out of the hug. Vanessa laughed for a moment before squeezing her friend really tight first, she wanted to bug her. Letting go she looked at her friend with the widest grin on her face, "Oh, I'm sorry did I over do it?" Vanessa asked with a wink before sticking her tongue out at Jac one more time.

Jac laughed slightly as she saw Vanessa stick her tongue out at her, she was glad that they could be themselves around each other. Even if they truly were childish little buggers. But she didn't care, she liked Vanessa just the way she was and she was pretty sure that Vanessa liked her for her as well. And if she didn't? Well then she was a damn good actress. Jac knew that Vanessa would have hung around with her if she didn't really like her.
"Well I may be a brat, but you are the child."She said as she stuck her tongue out a her friend, she a small smirk creeping across her face, and she tried unsuccessfully to hold back her laughter at their childish ways, after all they were almost legal adults and they still acted like 3 year olds on a sugar high, most days.
She was glad that she had found Vanessa today she didn't know what she would do if she stuck talking to some stuck up snob, or shy little preppy. Besides' it felt like she hadn't talked to the pink haired girl in eons. And that just wasn't right, in Jac opinion. If she had it her way Vanessa would never leave her side, and visa versa.
"She the thing was I really didn't know that the Princess of Pink could fight."She answered pretending to be oblivious even though she knew that they could both she through it especially since the kid she beat up had returned to school with a black eye and fractured wrist. She didn't know may people that could fight like Vanessa when she was angry.
Jac was truly happy for the first time, since they had come to camp. Sure she had her moments in which she would smile, or be momentarily happy, but when she was around her crazy and wild friend she felt a happiness that didn't come around her very often since she had left home at only sixteen, nearly two years ago. Had it really been only that short amount of time ago, it felt like years since she had seen or talk to any of her old friends or family.
As much as that saddened her, she knew she was better off this way. This way she could be who she wanted to be and not what her parents felt she could be. She could always have the friends she wanted and not be looked down upon by her parents or old frenemies. This way she could live her life the way she wanted with her best friend and be truly happy and have fun.
Thing life by her own rules.
"I am most certainly not a nerd."She tried to defended herself with a straight face but found herself bursting into laughter every time she tried to regain her composure. It was true they both were nerds and huge freaks, even though they were nerds in different ways then a lot of people. They weren't super smart, or sci-fi freaks, they just were different and random and that in their eyes made them freaks.
Jac felt Vanessa squeeze her even tighter and she swore she could feel the air being pressed out of her lungs, even though it really wasn't as tight as she felt it was. "A little." Jac said with a smile, as she pretended to gasp for air, falling on the ground dramatically.
"But don't worry I still love you."

Hearing that Vanessa was a child made her smile. She knew that, and she was pretty sure the entire world knew it to. It wasn't like she was trying to hide the fact she acted like a three year old who had never had candy before. But it only got worse the more her and Jac hung out. It went from a child binging on candy, to a child binging on candy and enegry drinks. Making all the difference.
"Ummm, honey," Vanessa had to stop for a moment to let out a giggle or two. "I'm pretty sure the entire world knows I am a child inside" Vanessa thought it was hilarous. Mostly because it was true, but she didn't care and she was pretty sure Jac didn't care either since, they were pretty much the exact same.
Vanessa tried not to get frustrated while Jac was teasing her about not being able to fight. It's not that she wanted to prove it, because that was the last thing she would ever do. Unless the kid really needed a good beating. But at times, she didn't even want to think about what she did to that kid back in grade ten, altough she knew that she deserved it. At times, she still felt bad.
"But that's what I want you to think" Vanessa had a smirk on her face, thinking about it. Since nobody would really think a girl with pink hair could fight, when Vanessa did fight you. You would would be in for a real shock. But she wouldn't fight, she didn't like it, sure she would fight with words. But words can be changed a lot easier than broken bones and black eyes.
"Well, maybe I'll just have to show you then" Vanessa joked around, as she pretended to start getting ready to fight. Putting her hands into fist near her face. She couldn't stop smiling. Prenteding to go on for a hard punch, Vanessa just tap Jac's shoulder. Giggling the entire time.
"And don't make me remind you again" Vanessa told her trying to seem like a total tough guy, but she couldn't do it. She wasn't like that, she was more giggly and she couldn't stop smiling at Jac. Yes, thats it, It was all Jac's fault. Well, atleast that was what Vanessa was sticking too.
"Okay, Okay.. Vanessa thought of how else she could describe Jac. She couldn't really think of it, other than nerd there wasn't really anything else that she could be called. Until.. That was it, it was so obvious and Vanessa couldn't believe she didn't think of it before. Looking over at Jac, she felt a smile grow on her face.
"You're a dork"
Watching as her friend pretended her hug was too much for Jac to handle. She watched as Jac feel over and it made Vanessa want to push her, to be like 'psssht whatever' But instead she waited for her to get up.
"Ohh, fine then" Vanessa said, starting to fake cry. Prenteding her heart was broken by Jac whom wanted out of her hug. Vanessa was trying her hardest not to let Jac make her smile. So she just wouldn't look at more for a long period of time. Hearing Jac say she still loved her anyways, she looked over at Jac. "No, no, It's too late for that. I'm already broken" Vanessa still tried her hardest not to smile at Jac.
